The Owners

As avid gardeners themselves, Charles Franklin Doughty III and Sue Ellen DuBrava want to share their seventy-some years of collective experience with other garden and plant enthusiasts. The exhilaration they experience when designing and planting with plant material that will thrive in each customer's specific growing conditions and the delight they get watching these plants grow over the years is addictive.

This is why they love what they do. They want everyone that gets plants from Cochato to be just as happy, successful, satisfied and of course return!

For co-owner Charles Franklin Doughty III, horticulture and garden design has been his love since he was a child, digging plants out of the woods and planting them in his yard. His formal studies include a degree in horticulture from UMass Amherst.

He went on to manage a garden center until he started his own Landscape and Design Company. In 1990 he purchased an old farmhouse on four acres in Holbrook, MA and started growing plants & this was the beginning of Cochato Nursery.
